Benefits of Support Groups
Many women resist the idea of attending a support group. Some thoughts that may come up are:
“Is this going this going be a touchy-feely group with hand holding and trust falls?”
“Who are these people?”
“Why would I trust strangers with my darkest fears and my saddest and most tearful moments?”
What you will find a unique group of women. They suffer from PCOS, endometriosis, male factor infertility, and unexplained infertility. They have never been pregnant. They have miscarried early. They have had second and third trimester losses. They may already be parents and struggling the second time around.
These women are teachers, doctors, psychologists, federal prosecutors, insurance agents, and nurses. They all different and many come from many different backgrounds, but they all understand. They will be strangers when you walk into the room but by the end of the meeting, you will likely realize that you have found your tribe.
This is a group of people who know your pain and will not judge you for it. Heartbreaks will be endured and supported, and successes will be celebrated. These women may make you laugh during times you didn’t know laughter was possible.
